Free Markdown to mind map converter

Paste Markdown and get a mind map. Headings and list items become topics, and you can keep editing the map right here.

How it works

  1. Paste your Markdown, or open a .md file.
  2. Choose Make the map. Headings and list items become topics.
  3. Edit the map, then export it as a PNG image, a .xmind file, Markdown or OPML.

Your file never leaves your browser

Your text is turned into a map on your device. It is not uploaded, and nothing you paste is sent to us.

Take your maps to iPhone and iPad

MindmapPal for iPhone and iPad opens .xmind, OPML and Markdown files, works offline, and keeps every map as a file you own.

Questions

Which Markdown turns into topics?

Headings and list items become topics, nested as they are in your text. A paragraph under a topic becomes its note.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The map is made on your device, and nothing you paste is sent to us.

Can I open a .md file instead of pasting?

Yes. Choose Open file. Markdown files of up to 50 MB open, and so do .xmind and OPML files.

Can I turn the map back into Markdown?

Yes. Export Markdown to get an outline of the map’s topics and notes.

Do I need an account?

No. Paste your text and make the map. There is nothing to sign up for.

Can I keep working on the map later?

The map is saved in this browser as you work. To keep it for good, export a file, such as a .xmind file.
