Who each one suits
MindNode suits people who live in the Apple ecosystem and want one polished app across Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Vision Pro. Its features page also lists iCloud sync, tasks that stay in step with Apple Reminders, and a wide set of export formats.
MindmapPal suits people who need to open, edit and send back .xmind files, or who want ten layout structures and a password on a map. It runs on iPhone and iPad only.
It is not on the App Store yet.
The Mac question
MindNode has a Mac app. MindmapPal does not. If you need a native Mac app today, MindNode is the one to look at.
Working with .xmind files
MindNode’s features page lists OPML, Markdown and plain text as import formats and does not list .xmind. If a colleague sends a .xmind file, the XMind viewer on this site opens it in your browser, and the file stays on your device.
