MindNode alternatives for Windows, Android and iPad
MindNode runs only on Apple devices, so people on Windows or Android, or who need .xmind files, look elsewhere. SimpleMind, XMind and Mindomo cover other platforms, and MindmapPal is coming soon for .xmind on iPhone and iPad.

Why people look elsewhere
MindNode’s site names Mac, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch and Vision Pro, and does not mention Windows or Android. If your team uses a mix of devices, or you need to open a .xmind file, you may want something else.
For Windows and Android
SimpleMind lists Mac, Windows, iPhone and iPad, and Android, with a free-form layout and auto layouts.
XMind runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, the web, iOS and iPadOS, and Android, and it makes the .xmind format.
Mindomo works in a browser and has desktop and mobile apps, with real-time co-editing and an outline view.
Coggle is a web tool with real-time collaboration and PDF, image and .mm exports. Its page asks you to sign in to start.
For .xmind files on iPhone and iPad
MindmapPal is coming soon.
It opens and exports .xmind, OPML and Markdown, needs no account and keeps maps as files on your device. It offers ten structures. It has no Mac, Windows or Android app.
Staying Apple-only
If you want to stay on Apple devices, MindNode itself is strong: it has an outline view, iCloud sync and a long list of export formats. The alternatives are about reach and file formats, not about MindNode being lacking.
Try opening any .xmind file in the XMind viewer, which runs in your browser.
