Do my files leave the browser? Privacy in the web tools
MindmapPal’s web tools open, edit and export maps in your browser. Files and map text are not uploaded. This page lists what analytics does see.
Steps
- Open a file in a web tool. It is read on your device and not uploaded.
- Choose Export. The file is made in your browser and saved from there.
- To change analytics, choose Cookie settings in the footer of any page.
Your files
Opening, editing and exporting happen in your browser. Map files are not sent to us, and neither are map text or file names. The saved copy of your map lives in this browser’s own storage on your device.
A password you type for a protected file stays on your device and is cleared once the file is open.
What analytics sees
The website uses Google Analytics. These are the events we send, none with personal details:
- someone joined the waiting list, and from which page;
- a download or waiting list button was clicked, and where on the page;
- a map tool was opened, and on which page;
- an export, with the format only, such as “png”.
We never send your email address, a map’s text or a file’s name. Ad storage is switched off.
Your choice
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off until you choose Accept all in the cookie banner. Elsewhere they are on until you choose Reject all. Change it any time with Cookie settings in the footer.
