MindmapPal vs iThoughts
iThoughts has long read .xmind and OPML files, but its maker, toketaWare, says it has ceased trading and that the iOS app may no longer be on the App Store. MindmapPal, coming soon, is a new iPhone and iPad app for the same kinds of files.

Where iThoughts stands
The toketaWare home page says the business “has now ceased trading after 11 years”. It says people who bought direct can still download the app, and that re-downloads from the stores are at Apple’s or Microsoft’s discretion. It also says some users report the iOS app is no longer on the App Store.
If you already own iThoughts, your maps are not lost. The vendor says iThoughts can export to many popular desktop mind map formats.
Who each one suits
Stay with iThoughts if it works for you and you have a copy installed. Its FAQ says it reads XMind 8 and 2021 files and OPML on iOS, Mac and Windows.
MindmapPal suits people who want a maintained iPhone and iPad app to replace it, with .xmind, OPML and Markdown support.
It is not on the App Store yet.
Limits to know
The iThoughts FAQ says importing a .xmind file is “lossy”, that only the first sheet of a multi-sheet file is imported, and that XMind export is limited to the older XMind 8 format.
To check what a .xmind file contains before you move it, use the XMind viewer. It runs in your browser and the file stays on your device.
